This strip kicked my butt - well, GIMP used it to kick my butt. Luckily the layout was saved, but the text arrangement led to a freeze-up just as I started the bubbles. Alas. That's why it's late!
Some liberties were taken with the text. Banquo is supposed to arrive last, and the eighth king is supposed to bear the looking-glass. I thought it worked for the stage - and for staging - to have Banquo appear bearing the looking-glass and hold it so that the kingly descendants filed past it. I had some fun with the hair.
Incidentally, I set it so that the last four were the four Stuart kings of England in the red-and-blue lion livery. I like having Charles II in a disco 'fro.
Anyway, all this meant that some lines were jimmied about, and as always some were cut for the sake of space. Arrows were added to try to make sense of the spin of emotions that Mackers is caught in as the kings file past.
I think I counted eight. Lessee now ... 7 .. 8 Umm yup! All of them unique, I thought the punk red hairpiece was a riot! :D
If it weren't for the GIMP-fail, the procurement of eight unique medieval 'figs in my Scots and English livery was going to be the thing that I bitched about, since I've still yet to organize as I want to. Christmas vacation is near, at least...
And I figured that the last wholly Scottish king should have something rather offsetting about him, so the fun of the mohawk was employed. I suppose that I should have had a female 'fig there for Mary, Queen of Scots - and that I should have had Queens at the end for Mary and for Anne, the last regents from the Stuart line - but I stuck with the kings. In retrospect, that would have been more horrifying to Mackers, no?
Maybe, but I never did pay close attention to either history or Shakespearean plays. :D All I know is it makes for excellent webcomic material! ;)
Well, thanks! Hopefully it's enough to provide some incentive or further interest... Check with your local library!
Just dived into what I've missed the past few weeks. Excellent adaption.
Thank you, Dennis! It's always nice to have someone in the biz compliment things!
